Have a Cellulite-Free Spring with Cellfina

By the time February rolls around, most of us can’t wait for springtime to begin. If you have visible cellulite, however, you’re probably dreading the return of “shorts weather”. If you’re one of these people, we have good news for you: All of that is about change. Cellfina, a revolutionary new cellulite treatment that was approved by the FDA in 2015, can virtually eliminate cellulite in the vast majority of patients. Better still, this procedure involves no surgery whatsoever. Patients who have Cellfina can return to all of their normal activities immediately after their procedure.

How Does Cellfina Work?

Cellfina uses a novel cellulite treatment technique known as “controlled subcision.” During this procedure, a special applicator is applied to the patient’s skin in order to stretch the fibrous bands that cause the skin to pucker. Once the bands have been elongated, very fine needles are used to separate and “release” them. This relaxes them so that they no longer have the ability to create dimples and bulges in the skin.

Because the needles used during Cellfina are very thin, this procedure is not usually painful. Patients may experience mild burning or tingling sensations (similar to the feelings produced by acupuncture), but these will quickly resolve once the procedure is complete. Recovery from Cellfina is as easy as waiting several days for any residual redness to subside. Few patients experience any lingering soreness after having Cellfina, but if you do, you should be able to get rid of your symptoms by taking an over the counter anti-inflammatory medication, like Advil.

How Effective is Cellfina?

Cellfina is the most effective cellulite treatment available on the market today, according to preliminary studies. One American study of 55 patients who elected to have just one Cellfina treatment found that an astounding 98% of participants enjoyed a substantial reduction in their cellulite symptoms within the first year after treatment. Furthermore, this study showed that the participants’ results continued to improve over time. By year two, close to 100 percent of the people who elected to have Cellfina said they were very satisfied with the results of this procedure.

Like all cosmetic procedures, Cellfina does have some limitations. It may not be capable of treating very severe cellulite with one single treatment session. Patients with grade four or grade five cellulite may need to have more than one Cellfina appointment. It is also recommended that patients with severe cellulite look into complementary procedures, such as laser therapy, to further improve the appearance of their thighs and buttocks.

Who Makes a Good Candidate for Cellfina?

Cellfina patients should have moderate to severe cellulite. Mild cellulite can usually be treated with less costly procedures than Cellfina. Additionally, you should be aware that if you are obese, this treatment may not work as well on you. Cellfina patients are usually advised to lose any excess weight they have prior to having this procedure.

Most people make good candidates for this procedure thanks to its noninvasive nature. However, people with bleeding disorders, active cancer, or severely compromised immune systems may be unable to have Cellfina. If you have an active health condition, you should talk to your doctor before having any cosmetic procedure performed. Furthermore, if you take Aspirin or any other blood thinning medication on a regular basis, you will need to discontinue your medication at least two weeks before having Cellfina.

How Long Do the Results of Cellfina Last?

Cellfina is thought to be a permanent or semi-permanent treatment for most patients. Once the fibrous bands beneath the skin are separated, they will not heal back together, meaning that cellulite treated by Cellfina cannot come back. However, lifestyle factors can sometimes lead to the development of new cellulite symptoms years after having Cellfina. As we age, for example, our levels of collagen greatly decrease, and the loss of this skin-firming compound often leads to worsening cellulite symptoms. Significant weight gain (in excess of 30 pounds) can also accentuate the appearance of cellulite by placing additional stress on the skin. However, if either of these things occur, you should be able to return to your cosmetic surgeon’s office and have another Cellfina treatment.

Put Some Spring in Your Step With Cellfina

When combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise program, Cellfina can help you look and feel better than you ever have before. If you’re tired of feeling self-conscious every time you slip into a bathing suit or pair of shorts, why not give Cellfina a try? The results will almost certainly surprise you.
