Dr. Daniel Ritacca is an honor graduate at the top of his class from the University of Illinois and graduated from Northwestern Hospital in Ophthalmology in 1984. In 1980, he received the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society Award for Excellence in Medicine. Dr. Daniel Ritacca has been a pioneer in corrective vision surgery for over fifteen years. He is a clinical instructor at Cook County Hospital , where he voluntarily teaches several doctors per year in the fields of vision correction and plastic surgery of the eyes. He has traveled and spoken around the world and received numerous honors for his teaching in countries such as Mexico , Panama , and Kenya .
It was Dr. Ritacca's vision approximately ten years ago that ultimately became "The Ritacca Laser Center". He imagined a place where people could venture to improve the overall quality of their lives. The result became The Ritacca Laser Center's Four Pillars of Wellness . The clinic now includes four components; The Ritacca Vision Center, Vernon Hills Surgical Care Center , Ritacca's Spa Serene MD, and the Chicagoland Age Management Clinic. Dr. Ritacca, the medical director and oversight of the entire operation is pleased to say his "vision is now a reality!"
Dr. Ritacca is well known for his philanthropy across the world. He has traveled internationally to operate on poor and underprivileged individuals as a volunteer surgeon. He is genuinely dedicated to this work and desires to have more time for these medical missions in the future. Dr. Ritacca is also known locally for his generous contributions. He single handedly implemented a program for gang outreach in which former gang members could remove old tattoos for no cost. Dr. Ritacca is not a stranger to charitable organizations. Most recently his donations have included raising money for The Leukemia Foundation and The Allendale Association, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the education and treatment for foster children in the Lake County area.
When he is not working, Dr. Ritacca enjoys running, bicycling, speaking Italian, and traveling to Italy . He enjoys spending time with his family including his wife, two children, and his mother.

Alan Parungao, MD, is a plastic surgeon board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is trained in cosmetic surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, craniofacial surgery including repair of cleft lip and palate, head and neck reconstruction, oncologic (cancer) surgery, elective and traumatic hand surgery, burn surgery, microvascular surgery, laser surgery and reconstruction of the trunk and lower extremities.
Dr. Parungao is author of A Woman's Guide to Cosmetic Breast Surgery and Body Contouring, and wrote the chapter on plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery in Boards Review Series: Surgery.
He has done research on skin cancer and wound healing, and his work has been presented to the Illinois Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the Midwest Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has also spoken on breast surgery in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Parungao received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident in the third year of his plastic surgery residency. He also completed a three-year residency in general surgery. Dr. Parungao holds a master's degree in physiology from the Chicago Medical School and a bachelor of arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
He is a Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and a Member of the American Academy of Facial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Chicago Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Parungao has a strong interest in philanthropy. In 2001, he was the sole plastic surgeon on a medical mission to Dumaguette City in the Philippines. He operated on patients of all ages who suffered from cleft lip, burn contractures and skin cancer. On the mission, he worked side-by-side with his father, a general surgeon, and his mother, an anesthesiologist.
He is an avid runner and triathlete, and has competed in the Boston and Chicago Marathons, and in Ironman Wisconsin.
