A Port Wine Stain is a malformation of blood vessels that creates a discoloration of the skin. At a young age, it may appear to be pink in color but as one gets older, the color begins to darken and become dark red or purple. Port wine stains can occur on the face or body and unless treated, may continue to darken.
Laser treatments have been most successful in treating port wine stains.
With lasers, the blood vessels are safely destroyed without effecting surrounding skin. Port wine stains can often times be eliminated completely and allow you to return to your normal lifestyle.
